From Coleford take B4228 south for 1 mile, turn right at Lambsquay Hotel. These natural caves have had iron ore mined from them for thousands of years and 9 caverns are open to the public. Miners tools and equipment are displayed to explain the history of iron and Free-mining in the Forest. Children as young as six used to work down here. There are no steps and buggies can be taken into the caves, although some paths are steep enough to make wheelchair access difficult.
