Trips run Apr-Sept, tide and weather dependent. (No under 5's due to life jacket restictions). Visit Steep Holm on a ferry from Weston-Super-Mare, (call for details). Steep Holm offers great views from the Severn Bridges as far down the coast as North Devon. It is home to rare plants and a variety of wildlife including muntjac deer, gulls, cormorants, and in Jul/Aug you may see grey seals fishing. Children will particularly enjoy the birdlife especially during the breeding season. Fortifications include Victorian cannons. Visitors need to be reasonably fit as there is no landing stage on the island and the paths are steep in places. The visitor centre has toilets and offers light refreshments and souvenirs. You should have around 6 hours on the island depending on the tides and you can buy a trail guide to help you navigate the sights. Take a torch to explore underground ammunition stores, binoculars, non-slip shoes and a picnic!
