Bristol Airport

There are many bonuses to starting your family holiday from your home airport, particularly when it is an airport like BIA. Firstly, not having to travel for miles to get to the airport means that you are more likely to time your journey correctly as there is less likelihood of getting stuck in traffic jams, or having rail delays, and you are much more likely to reach the airport with fresh children as opposed to bored or travelled out children. One of the best things about BIA is that it is a small airport and this means that, unlike some of its London contemporaries, everything is within easy walking distance for parents with children in tow, and there are rarely long waits either on arrival (check-in, passport and security checks) or departure (baggage claim and passport control). Facilities that BIA has at present include baby changes on all floors, land and airside, lifts, shops (such as WH Smiths, Travel Shopping), amusement arcades, coffee shops, and restaurants (all have high chairs). There is also an entertainment programme in practice where various entertainers (clowns, music), displays (art) and events (Easter Egg Hunts) will be at the airport. You are more likely to see this around key dates such as holiday periods, and charity events, such as Red Nose Day. Details of this are on the BIA website and they occur mainly landside so that non-flying visitors can enjoy them too.
